Hair on the Avenue presents this season’s hottest trends through film, capturing the fierce, sleek and over-the-top styles for fall/winter 2012 in a four minute film titled Anastasi.
“Fall hair is the dramatic apex of the previous season’s lengthening and care-free beachy texture,” says Luis Pacheco, colour savant and founder of Hair on the Avenue. “We thought a dramatic short film was the best way to bring the fierce emotion to life with the looks that are going to be dominating trendsetters this season,” he says.
Shot by Canada’s up-and-coming director Noam Kroll of Creative Rebellion, the film follows one girl’s awakening into sleek styling in an Alice in Wonderland-like experience of seeing reflections of herself in three different hair trends.
Kelly Araujo, one of the one of salon’s leading style makers, crafted the tresses of Anastasi’s leading lady and explains the looks on film that will dominate this season; length has become the greatest overall trend, lending itself to these top four looks:
- The summer braid has grown bigger, it is really full and can be crafted with up to five interwoven strands and trails across the shoulders or falls straight down the back;
- A fierce heavy fringe is blunt cut at the brow line to frame the face and make eyes more dramatic;
- A look we like to call ‘Kate in the middle-ton’ really captures the essence of overall style this season which has become sleek and tousled not messy or overly sculpted;
- The sculpting comes with the over-the-top up dos that are reminiscent of beehives and our favourite — atomic buns, which are taking the DIY-friendly sock bun and giving it more height and fullness.
