Psychedelic Renaissance: A Diamond in the Ruff

16th century Renaissance meets 60’s Psychedelic Rock in this stunning look created by Medulla & Co Queen West stylist Jacinta, in partnership with colourist, Holly.

Inspired by the structures and shapes of the Renaissance Era,

“I wanted ethereal, airy, tousled textures with intricate styling. We wanted to bring out the Psychedelic vibes with the colour and the fun makeup.”

–  Jacinta

The vibrant colours wrapped in the elegant style are beautifully complemented by the Elizabethan Ruff – handmade by Jacinta herself  using kanekalon hair!

Originally, this piece was going to be created from fabric, a much easier medium to work with, however Crystofer Benson‘s creations for the ARMANI COLLECTION prompted Jacinta to try and sculpt the collar out of hair.

“It took some trial and error but I’m very pleased with the end result.”

–  Jacinta

On her favourite part of this look: The intricacy of all the braids. I could’ve braided her hair all day creating these looks. You get lost in the masterpiece and when you step back it’s such an exciting feeling to see the look come together.

On the most challenging part of this look: By far the collar. It was something I hadn’t done before and oddly couldn’t find a How-To on Google [haha]. So I had to invent my own process of doing things.
